Always worth a visit: Taufers Palace

This palace is one of the largest and most beautiful in South Tyrol. It was once owned by the Lord of Taufers and after his death fell into ruin. At the start of the 20th century it was restored, in 1977 it was taken over by the South Tyrol palace institute. All of this partly Romanesque, partly gothic building is almost completely accessible. The palace has 64 furnished rooms, the Pacher frescoes in the chapel will amaze you, gothic and Renaissance wardrobes as well as a large library. There is also a dining room, the tower with its torture chamber, the jail, the armoury and the knight’s hall.
