Winter in Strassen, Hochpustertal
In the vicinity of Strassen you can enjoy finest skiing in the ski resort Sillian. The lift systems and cable cars bring skiers up to a height of 2407 meters and comprise 45 kilometres of ski slopes. The long valley runs to Sillian (11 km) and to Außervillgraten (9 km) are a special highlight. . There is a great area in the Fun-park with a cool "Corner", "Big Straight Jump", "Rail" and a "Funbox" for snowboarders.
Cross-country skiing possibilities in the vicinity of Strassen
The surroundings of Strassen offer many possibilities to enjoy cross-country skiing and to explore the beautiful winter landscape. And with the cross-country skiing area Obertilliach in the East Tyrolean Lesachtal there is another region waiting for the cross-country skiing winter sports enthusiasts. Furthermore, there is a cross-country trail in Strassen with a low level of difficulty and in Kartitsch - Obertilliach the Grenzland cross-country trail is awaiting you – thanks to a snow machine, snow is guaranteed; a total of 120 km of cross-country ski trails. The cross-country and biathlon centre in Obertilliach with cross-country trails and a shooting range is not only a popular training centre for the top athletes, guests can prove themselves at jogging or shooting under guidance.
Ski tours become more and more popular. . Most popular: The Villgratental. It gets a bit louder at tobogganing, because the Hochpustertal has to offer some very twisty runs. There are, for example, toboggan runs in Obertilliach, Kartitsch and on the Leckfeldalm – including alpine snack bars; the run in Außervillgraten is illuminated. While ice climbing you can explore the world of ice in the mountains in a different way. . Those who prefer it more romantic, can explore the winter landscape in a horse-drawn sledge.
Nature meets culture: You will find cultural treasures such as the Schloss Anras (Anras Castle) with the museum for the penal system and a permanent exhibition of works by Paul Flora in the Hochpustertal.
